Monolithe Nordic Ski Area
Located in the Maurienne Valley between Aussois and Val Cenis–Sardières, the Monolithe Nordic area offers 39 km of cross-country ski trails for classic and skating techniques, suitable for all levels. The trails wind through forests and plateaus around a spectacular monolith over 90 m high, resembling a menhir and serving as the emblem of the area.
Beginners and families can enjoy gentle skiing around the Sardières Nordic chalet. A green trail is also available at the Plan de la Croix for those wishing to get started in this sector. More experienced skiers can take on technical and varied routes starting from Aussois or Sardières, crossing forests, clearings, and scenic viewpoints.

Practical information Nordic ski area
- The Plan de la Croix, at the exit of Aussois towards Sardières, offers easy access to cross-country ski trails and marked snowshoe routes (accessible by car, by shuttle from the village center, or a 15-minute walk).
- The Nordic Chalet, located in Val Cenis-Sardières and open daily during the season, features a self-service room with a picnic area and restrooms, a sledding area, a dining point, and a local products grocery located across the street.
- 2 green trails – 3 blue trails – 3 red trails – 1 black trail.
- 39 km of skating and classic cross-country ski trails.
- Passes available online, at the Maison d’Aussois, and at the Nordic Chalet in Val Cenis-Sardières.

Passes are available at the ski lift ticket offices in Aussois and at the Val Cenis Sardières Nordic Center.
Important information!
Rescue services on cross-country ski slopes are not free!
Carré Neige insurance is available at the ticket office and must be paid on site by the customer.
